For
our first skiing experience my husband and I went to Canada, Blue Mountain
Resort, about three years ago. It is really hard to express all the
excitement my husband and I felt at that time. Both he and I were new
to this type of sport and we wanted to get the best experience there
was from that vacation. We took one week off from work (around the
Christmas time), and flew to Toronto for our first skiing vacation.
On the next day after the arrival, we took a bus to the town of Collingwood,
where Blue Mountain Resort is situated and decided to settle in a nearby
hotel.
The resort area was absolutely stunning – nice hotels and cabins,
restaurants, parks, and hills and hills of snow. The hotel where we chose
to stay was beautiful – it was very cozy and our bedroom had windows
facing the resort beautiful grounds. We conveniently lived only ten minutes
of walking from the nearest ski rental. Time is money, you know. So we
liked our hotel and decided to stay at the same one next year. On our
official first day of our skiing vacation in Canada, we went right away
to try our ski abilities. We rented two pairs of mounting skis and boots
and went to the next to the highest hill in the resort. We decided that
my husband will go downhill first and I would follow him behind. When
we got to the top of the hill, I was honestly scared. That was a challenge
for me. But in addition I was charmed with the beauty of the snow hills.
I had never seen such a picturesque scene. And then after a moment, when
I noticed how little kids, without a hint of being afraid, flew down
the hill on their little skis, I was even more scared. “It’s
all right,” said my husband, when he saw a worrying expression
on my face, and fell down almost immediately while trying to set for
downhill departure. Afterwards, we tried to ski from that hill for about
an hour with very little luck, and decided to take some ski classes the
next day to get some good skiing experience.
